Wedge burgers are an all-time favorite at home. I make wedge burgers on occasions when we want to eat burgers with French fries or street food like Frankies. I always avoid taking veggie burgers from any food chain outlet. I make veggie patties at home. Even though it takes time, the people of the house are always better.

  1. I have adapted my Veg cutlet recipe for veg patties. Whole wheat burger buns I got from a local bakery. You can also make burger buns at home a day or two in advance. Since it takes time to make a veg burger recipe, plan in advance.

I used eggless mayonnaise. For vegetarian options use vegetarian mayonnaise. To toast the burger buns, use oil instead of butter.

Vegetarian patties are scented with Indian spices. You can play around and add herbs and spices of your choice. Similarly, you can also change the veggie filling inside the veg burger recipe. The best part is making vegetarian burgers at home. You can make it according to your taste and choice.

How to make VEGGIE Burger or VEG Burger Recipe

  1. Break 6 to 7 slices of bread and put in a mixer or dry grinder. You can use any bread like white, brown, multi grain or whole wheat bread.

1. Now steam 3 large potatoes, 1 medium to large carrot, 8 to 9 french beans and ⅓ to eas cup green peas till they are fully cooked. You can cook or steam the vegetables in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles. You can also cook in a pan or electric cooker. Once cooked drain veggies well. They should not contain water or moisture.

2. Peel and cut the potatoes when hot. Peel the cooked carrots as well and finely chop them. Finely chop the Fresh beans as well.

14. Add salt and 5 to 6 tablespoons of bread crumbs as per taste.

16. Keep the wedge patty mixture aside. Check the seasoning and add more salt and spice powder if necessary.

PREPARING MAYONNAISE SAUCE DRESSING FOR VEG BURGER

1. In a small mixing bowl take 3 tbsp eggless or vegan mayonnaise.

2. Put crushed or ground mustard seeds in a small spoon grinder or mortar-pestle. Also add ½ teaspoon of fresh crushed pepper.

3. Add bsp tablespoon lemon juice. You can also add lemon juice as per your taste.

4. Add vinegar or apple cider vinegar regularly.

5. Add one tablespoon extra virgin olive oil or olive oil.

Ingredients for making veg burger recipe

For vegetarian patty

300 gm potatoes or 3 large potatoes

100 to 125 grams of carrot or 1 medium to large carrot

40 grams French beans or 8 to 9 French beans

 1/3 to 1/2 cup peas – fresh or frozen

1 medium onion, finely chopped or ely cup finely chopped onion

1 teaspoon chopped garlic or Spoon garlic paste

3/4 inch ginger or 2 teaspoons chopped ginger or 1 teaspoon ginger paste

1 or 2 green chillies (green chillies) or 1 teaspoon chopped green chilies or ilies spoon green chilli paste

2 tablespoons chopped coriander or fresh parsley leaves

½  teaspoon Coriander Powder (Coriander Powder)

½ teaspoon Cumin Powder (Cumin Powder)

½ teaspoon red chili powder or cayenne pepper

½ Spoon Garam Masala Powder

1/8 Spoon Turmeric Powder (Turmeric) – optional

Add 5 to 6 teaspoons of bread crumbs or as required

3 tablespoons corn flour (polenta or cornmeal) – corn starch instead of corn flour
3 tablespoons rice flour (rice flour)

for breadcrumbs coating

1 small to medium tomato – finely chopped

1 small to medium cucumber – finely chopped

1 small to medium onion – finely chopped

4 to 5 salad leaves – chopped

3 tablespoons vegetarian eggless mayonnaise or vegetarian mayonnaise
1/2  Spoon mustard seeds (mustard) – crushed or powdered in a small spice grinder or pea-pestle
1/2  Spoon Fresh Crushed Pepper (Black Pepper Powder)
Add ½ to 1/4 spoon teaspoon sugar or as needed
⅛ teaspoon salt or 2 to 3 pinches of salt
Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lemon juice or as needed
 1/2 Spoon Regular Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or olive oil

Preparing breadcrumbs

Turn off the heat and then add chopped coriander leaves or parsley.
Stir very well and add this sauteed onion mixture to the mashed veggies.
Add salt and 5 to 6 tablespoons of bread crumbs. Start mixing very well.
Keep the wedge patty mixture aside. Check the spice and add spice powder and salt if necessary.
Make wedge patties just like the size of a burger patty. Keep aside. If the mixture looks soft or crumbly, add some more breadcrumbs and mix everything very well again. Cover the wedge patties and keep them aside.

Preparing mayonnaise dressing and toppings for veg burgers

In a small mixing bowl take 3 tablespoons mayonnaise.

In a small spice grinder or mortar-pestle, add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, crushed or powdered. Also add 1/2 tsp freshly crushed black pepper

Add 1 tbsp lemon juice. You can also add lemon juice as per your taste.

Add 1/2 tsp regular vinegar or apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil or olive oil.

Season with 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Also add 1/8 tsp or 2 to 3 pinches of salt.

Dressing very well. Keep aside.
